Focused ultrasound
HIFU facial
A cosmetic firmness treatment carried out with focused ultrasound. The applicator head stays on the surface of the skin, from the first pass to the last: the treatment is topical and non-invasive. It is the most technical protocol on our menu.

What it is
At Magic Room, a Korean beauty studio in Paris 17 (Porte Maillot), the Hifu facial is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment, from 349 €, by appointment.
Hifu works with focused ultrasound. An applicator head, held against the surface of the skin, concentrates the sound energy at one point, then moves on to the next. Line by line, area by area. The treatment is topical and non-invasive: the head stays on the outside, and the surface of the skin is left intact.
The work is methodical, almost cartographic. Anne divides the face into areas — the contour of the face, the jaw, the cheeks, the forehead — and gives each one a number of passes settled before she begins. It is that grid, held to the same rhythm through to the final line, that makes the appointment a long one.
The price follows from that discipline. Hifu Visage — 349 €. It is the most expensive treatment on our menu, and we would rather say why: the price comes from the length of the appointment — to be provided — and from the hours of expert hands it asks for. It rests on no promise.
The vocabulary of this treatment belongs to appearance. We speak of a look of firmness that the protocol helps to support, of a facial contour that may appear a little more defined. Observations, not undertakings.
Who it is for
The Hifu facial answers a precise request. It suits neither every skin nor every moment: that is what the first conversation is there to establish.
- You feel the contour of your face looks less defined than it once did.
- You would rather have one long appointment, well spaced out, than a protocol on a close rhythm.
- You want a non-invasive treatment, one where the surface of the skin is left unbroken.
- You have already tried other protocols on our menu and would like something more technical.
- You are willing to proceed without figures or promises: what we talk about here is appearance and consistency.

The conversation and the skin assessment
The appointment opens with a moment of observation. Anne looks at your skin in the light and asks about your habits, the products you are using, your exposure to the sun. It is also the moment when Hifu may be set aside in favour of another protocol.
Preparation
The skin is cleansed, then all make-up taken off. A contact gel is applied: it lets the ultrasound pass from the head to the skin without loss. The areas are then mapped and marked out, one by one, before the first pass.
The passes
Anne works the passes area by area, following the plan she has set out. Each area is named to you before it is worked. You feel brief points of heat, sometimes a slight tingling, which stop with the pass. You say what you feel, and the intensity is adjusted. Length of the appointment: to be provided.
Soothing and aftercare
The gel is wiped away, the skin soothed, a protection applied before you leave. Anne talks you through the care to keep up at home and when to go back to your usual routine. The next appointment, if there is to be one, is arranged with you.

Duration : to be provided. By appointment only.
What this treatment does not do
What this treatment does not do
We would rather set out the limits ourselves, before you have to guess at them.
- It is not a medical procedure and it replaces none. Magic Room is a beauty salon: we work on the appearance of the skin.
- It does not alter the volumes of the face and it does not redraw features. A cosmetic treatment does not do that kind of work.
- We promise no figure, no timescale, no duration of effect. A salon that offers you any of the three should give you pause.
- It is not the treatment for a fresh complexion before an evening out. Other protocols on our menu answer that better, and cost less.
- It is no substitute for medical advice: with a doubt, a course of care under way or an implanted device, the answer belongs to a doctor.
After the session
- The skin may feel warm or a little sensitive as you leave. That sensation settles on its own.
- Sun protection is the most important precaution in the days that follow. We show you how to reapply it.
- Sources of strong heat — sauna, hammam, direct sun — are to be set aside for the period we tell you about.
- When to go back to make-up and to your usual products is said in the treatment room, according to what your skin showed during the session.
- The rhythm is decided with you, after the first session. Number of sessions and recommended interval: to be provided.
Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
Most people describe brief points of heat, sometimes a slight tingling, which stop with the pass. The sensation is more marked near the bony areas, fainter on the cheeks. The intensity is adjusted during the session: you only have to say so.
Can I wear make-up when I leave?
Anne tells you at the end of the appointment, according to what your skin has shown. It is an answer given in the treatment room, with your skin in front of her.
How long does the appointment last?
to be provided. No duration is shown on our menu: we would rather give it to you when you book than put up an indicative figure.
How often should I come back?
The rhythm is decided with you, after the first session. Number of sessions and recommended interval: to be provided. We do not sell packages and we set no programme before we have seen you.
Are there any contraindications?
Some situations call for a doctor's opinion before any cosmetic treatment: pregnancy, a course of care under way, an implanted device, skin that is reactive on the day of the appointment. We ask these questions at the start of the session, but we are not doctors. If a doubt remains, settle it with your own doctor before you come.
Why is it the most expensive treatment on the menu?
Because the appointment is long — its length: to be provided — and because the protocol calls for a plan of passes set out area by area, then held to the last line. The price rests on that time, not on anything it might promise you.
