Professional exfoliation

Peels

Five exfoliating formulas, all applied to the skin and nothing more. They are not looking for the same thing: it is the time spent observing, at the start of the appointment, that points to the one for you. Prices are listed, with no variations.

A peel, at Magic Room

At Magic Room, a Korean beauty studio in Paris 17 (Porte Maillot), peels are non-invasive cosmetic treatments, from 130 €, by appointment.

A peel is a topical treatment. A formula is applied to the skin, it works on the surface, then it is taken off. Nothing is introduced beneath the skin: the gesture stays on the outside, from beginning to end.

Skin renews itself on its own, continuously. A peel accompanies that movement, on a chosen area and at a chosen moment. Afterwards, the skin texture appears more even and the complexion looks brighter.

Biorepeel / Soonsu Peel TCA 35 % — 150 €. A biphasic formula, laid down in a thin layer. The tingling is distinct for the first few seconds, then it settles. This is the formula kept for a general request: a tired complexion, uneven texture, skin without light.

Lami Peel Glass Skin — 130 €. It aims for the surface effect Korean beauty calls glass skin: skin that is smooth to the touch and catches the light. The gesture is gentle: it works on the apparent evenness of the complexion more than on its texture, and is often chosen before an occasion.

GPeel Spicule (acne or dark marks) — 130 €. Two versions, chosen according to the aim of the day. The formula contains spicules, very fine particles that make the massage feel granular and leave a tingling sensation. The acne version is intended for blemish-prone skin; the dark-marks version for complexions that look uneven.

Dark Spots / Melasma Peel Pack — 250 €. A pack is not a single session: it is a course, several appointments arranged over time around one aim, a complexion that looks more even. The number of sessions included and how they are spaced: to be provided.

Dark Circle Peel Pack — 250 €. The same course logic, applied to the eye area, where the skin is thinner and the formulas gentler. The number of sessions included and how they are spaced: to be provided.

None of these five formulas is worth more than another: they are not aiming at the same thing. The choice is made in the treatment room, with Anne, at 243 B boulevard Pereire, Paris 17.

Who these treatments are for

A peel is chosen on an objective, never on a diagnosis. These are the requests that come up in the treatment room.

  • A dull complexion, skin that seems to have lost its light after the winter.
  • Uneven skin texture, pores you find too visible.
  • Blemish-prone skin, looking for a routine held over time.
  • A complexion that looks uneven, with some areas darker than others.
How the session unfolds

How the session unfolds

  1. The observation

The appointment opens with a conversation. Anne looks at your skin and asks about your habits and the products you use. The formula is chosen afterwards, never before.

  2. The preparation

The skin is cleansed, make-up taken off, then dried. The eye contour and sensitive areas are protected.

  3. The application

The formula is laid on in small touches, area after area. Each step is announced before it is made. You say what you feel as it goes: that is what allows us to adjust.

  4. The soothing

Depending on the formula, the skin is rinsed or neutralised, then soothed. A moisturising care and sun protection close the session.

  5. The advice

You leave with the steps to keep to at home and the rhythm advised for what follows. The next appointment is set with you, on Treatwell. Length of the session: to be provided.

What a peel does not do

What a peel does not do

Better said here than in the treatment room.

  • This is not a medical procedure. The formula stays on the skin; the treatment is topical and non-invasive. If what you are asking for belongs with a doctor, we will tell you so.
  • It is no substitute for medical advice. A lesion, a mole changing in appearance, skin reacting strongly: that is for a dermatologist to see.
  • It is no substitute for your routine at home. Without moisturising and sun protection, what was gained in the treatment room fades.
  • One session does not do everything, and we will promise neither a result nor a timeframe. The packs exist for that reason: some objectives ask for regularity.
  • It is not a treatment for every skin, nor for every moment. Faced with skin that is irritated or warmed by the sun, we would rather postpone.

After the session

  • The skin may look pink as you leave. That is usual, and it settles.
  • Depending on the formula, a feeling of tightness or dryness may follow, and the skin may peel slightly. Leave it alone, and moisturise.
  • Sun protection becomes the rule, in the city and under cloud alike.
  • Scrubs, exfoliating actives, sauna, hammam and swimming pool are set aside for the time indicated at the end of the session. That interval: to be provided.
  • The rhythm of the following appointments is set with you, never as a matter of principle.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

Pain is rarely the word. It is more a tingling, sometimes a feeling of warmth, sharper in the first few seconds and then fading. Each step is announced before it is made, and you can ask for a pause at any moment.

Can I wear make-up afterwards?

Better to wait. The point from which make-up sits comfortably again is indicated at the end of the session; that interval: to be provided. In the meantime, bare skin, a moisturising care and sun protection are enough.

How long does the session last?

to be provided. We would rather put nothing forward until the duration is confirmed.

How often can a peel be done?

That depends on the formula and on what you are looking for. The rhythm is set with you at the end of the appointment. For the two packs, which are courses, the number of sessions and how they are spaced: to be provided.

How do I know which formula suits me?

You do not have to know when you arrive. The choice is made in the treatment room, after the time spent observing. It happens that we suggest something other than what was planned: that is the point of the appointment.

Are there any contraindications?

Yes, as with any treatment of this kind. Pregnancy, ongoing medical care, reactive skin, recent sun exposure: mention it when booking, and ask for medical advice if in doubt. We would rather postpone than push ahead.
